Sales in Network Marketing
Good salesmanship is good wherever it is applied. Sales in network marketing is no different. My mother has been in retail sales just about all her life. Watching her in action in an absolute marvel. I am sure you have experienced a joyful sales experience and on the other end of the spectrum, an experience that had you vowing never to return to that shop. What is the difference? Mostly it is in the questions that the sales person asks you. "Anything in particular you are looking for today?" I don't know about you, but if I am looking for something in particular, I welcome that question. As a matter of fact, I get annoyed if I am not asked that question. "What are you going to be using it for? How soon were you needing it? Is there any particular style? Brand? Price?" When you are in the presence of a great sales person the whole process becomes interactive and you feel like this person is really trying to help you get what it is you are needing. Even if you don't buy from them it is still a pleasure. On the other side of the coin, if someone is pushy in their approach, arrogant, or disinterested, you will often resist buying from them, even if they have what you want. Sales in network marketing is often watered down to sharing products. As Ann Sieg points out very clearly in the text book;
The Renegade Network Marketer
, if you are getting a commission for recommending a product, then it is sales. For some people such as my mother, sales seems to come naturally and easy, for others, perhaps some study and discipline will be required. The process that my mother follows (quite naturally) has been coined "Conceptual Selling".
